your day your way
makahiki season
As the sun sets over the Koʻolau Mountains, eyes turn towards the starry skies for the first sight of Makaliʻi (The Pleiades Constellation). This annual marvel of celestial wonder marks the beginning of a new year in the Hawaiian calendar, filled with hope and peace, and is fondly called Makahiki.
The celebratory season of rest and rejuvenation begins in November and is honored through early February with intention to gather for the harvest and enjoy mele, storytelling, arts and play. In this season, we invite you to share in our time-honored traditions of the Makahiki Season, as distinctively experienced at Kaimana Beach Hotel through authentic artisan partnerships.
